2013 "The Confession" Musical

Don't miss this entertaining, inspiring Amish love story. Adapted from novels by New York Times bestselling Amish fiction writer Beverly Lewis, "The Confession" musical brings to life characters she introduced in her "Heritage of Lancater County" series: The Shunning, The Confession and The Reckoning.
With an uplifiting story line and soaring melodies, this musical tells a captivating story of a young Amish woman caught in a web of secrets and scandals, love lost and found and personal heartache and healing.

The Smucker Family invites guests to a special Bird-in-Hand experience. Guests are invited to make ice cream sundaes by the outdoor pool at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn from 7 to 8:30 pm.

At 8 pm join Jim or John Smucker and a member of the New Order Amish for an informal conversation in the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn pool building lobby. They'll share interesting, personal insight into the lifestyles of the Amish and Mennonites.

Banquet in a Cornfield

Enjoy an old-fashioned hayride from the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbrod to and from the Smucker farm (alternative transportation available), a farm-fresh dinner at the Smucker farm followed by an informal gathering on hay bales with live music around the Smucker fire it.

The Banquet in a Cornfield menu will be prepared by the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord and includes barbecue chicken, freshly picked corn on the cob, baked russet and sweet potatoes and baked lima beans. Plus, you'll enjoy Pennsylvania Dutch chow chow, cole slaw and Grandma Smucker's apple sauce, rolls butter and apple butter, our famous whoopie pies, angel food cake with fresh berries, iced tea and lemonade.

2013 "Half-Stitched," The New Musical

Meet the Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club as their lives unfold around an Amish quilt. There's a young woman yearning for stability, a couple at odds in their marriage, a young widower seeking solace, a rough-and-tough biker doing community service, a preacher's wife escaping parish problems—and an Amish widow teaching her first quilting class.

The new "Half-Stitched" musical is a delightful new journey of self-discovery, healing and renewed wholeness, pulled from Wanda Brunstetter's latest New York Times bestseller. Your group will find plenty to laugh at as these unlikely, beginning quilters are stitched together like scraps of fabric under the loving guidance of Emma Yoder. And the music? Oh, the music!

Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon

A course like nothing you've ever experienced! Featured in Runner's World the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon takes runners from across the country on beautiful country roads around Bird-in-Hand in a 13.1 mile half marathon and 5k. Weaving around the famous Amish farmlands of Lancaster County, this is a course that challenges your body and refreshes your soul. Dotting the route are water stations staffed by Amish families and Amish one-room schools serving as rest stops.

This year will feature the same course and the same running excitement. Plus, it will be a part of a three-day, three-event weekend—Run, Ride & Soar Weekend. All proceeds will benefit the Bird-in-Hand Volunteer Fire Company.

Events take place at the Smucker Homestead on Rt. 340 (Old Philadelphia Pike) across from the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn & Restaurant. For a schedule of weekend events click here.
